Flaunt It

Go on and flaunt what your momma gave ya!

Such simple words that most will sing but feel scared to do. Recently music has been my major outlet for my emotions. Life has changed in my last six months and I stopped blogging because in all honesty, I lost a piece of myself trying to be the best person I could. The result was being hurt and I was left deliberating what was next on my adventure.

People always ask me where I get my confidence from and my answer is pretty simple. I know who I am, I don't question myself because in my heart I know that I am the person I want to be. Yes, I do make mistakes. Yes, I do sometimes wonder what if things were different. I know my personality is not everyone's cup of tea, but I rather be somebody's shot of tequila. Because tequila is fun and makes you happy. You might end up with a headache or sending multiple uncoherent texts or snaps but it passes and you go back for round two.

I understand it’s hard to be confident, it’s been a lesson I’ve had to learn over the last twenty-five years. Occasionally having confidence doesn't always work in your favour. You have people that will judge you and think the worst of you because their insecurities are their biggest issue. Never let this reflect on you, because everybody has their struggles, hurdles and personal issues you aren’t aware of. Always be the person you want to encounter in the world.  Confidence radiates positivity and personality attracting people towards you, it’s something you cannot buy.

Personality + confidence + flaunting what your momma gave ya = a triple threat.

I know that onlookers probably think I’m the biggest idiot dancing around in my car, at work, in the gym, at the shops and when I hit the town. But I gave up giving a damn about what people think and just enjoy myself. I write these blogs, hoping its giving somebody the confidence to start their own journey but I’m not perfect and I’m not claiming to be. Over the years I've worked out a few secrets to really stand out and shine. I always ask for advice from the people I trust, because I know they are going be brutally honest with me.  I should really be giving them a shout out because they are the MVP’s of my life.

I thought id share my top five tips that I live by are:

Tip One: Most important, ALWAYS have a smile on your face. Haters going hate when you walk around feeling chirpy. It’s also contagious. Life’s too short to be unhappy and look like you don’t enjoy life. You’ll feel better about yourself even if it’s a smirk.

Tip Two: Socialisation. Find yourself a hobby. It could be either a sport commitment i.e.-Football, make-up tutorials, photography lessons or even ubering. You meet some of the most likeminded people when you go outside your comfort zone. Sometimes and in my case the people you meet will become friends who turn into family. My life wouldn’t be the same without my football friends.

Tip Three: Clothing. Wear whatever makes YOU feel comfortable and confident. From football jerseys to short skirts and high heels, don't let others dictate to you what you should wear or why you shouldn’t wear it. Whatever you wear flaunt it and make it your own. Buck the trends! I find most my clothing options from Boohoo, Misguided and Pretty Little Thing!
P.S. High-waisted jeans to flaunt your curves is always a hit!

Tip Four: Make-up. Full face or basic, do what makes you feel better about how you look. Fake eyelashes, highlighter or all natural, don't let people force you to do anything you don't want too. Remember that you are beautiful ALL NATURAL.

Tip Five: Hair. We have all had a bad hair day. For myself, I had my hair fried off from peroxide causing strands of my hair to look like two-minute noodles. My solution was hair extensions. Not everybody has the funds for extensions or even feel like they need extensions. A good shampoo and conditioner is always a key. Always blow dry your hair to create a fuller look and dry shampoo is a girl’s best friend. Most days I wear my hair in a bun to work because it’s the easiest option, but on weekends I try to give my hair some TLC and wash, blow-dry my hair. I only straighten the ends of my hair not the top because it looks full and bouncy. I also switch up my part of my hair and sling my hair to one side for a different look. Recently I went to the dark side and I absolutely love the low maintenance of brunette. Who knew that changing your hair colour would be so much fun! They say blondes have more fun, but I disagree!

These are the top five rules I live by daily to flaunt what my momma gave me. Everyday something new happens or you'll learn something new. Always remember life is all about learning about yourself. Don’t worry if people dislike you, I’m 119% they’re probably just wishing they had the confidence you have. From experience, the most important people in your life with build you up, give you support like a really expensive bra. Remember to ALWAYS be yourself and never change for anyone but you.

Stay Sassy xx
